Port Blair, July 03: The Port Blair Municipal Council is all set to handover the PBMC Nagar Palika Vidyalaya (Erstwhile Tunnu Munnu School) to the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. The plan however has triggered panic of losing teaching job among old staffs of the school, who have been serving the school since last 10 to 14 years.
On the other hand the PBMC claims that as per the new law, the teachers teaching in the PBMC Nagar Palika Vidyalaya must have required qualifications, which present staffs lack. In the mean time old staffs question why they were not asked 10-15 years ago about their qualifications.
Another question which arises here is that why PBMC without floating any tender or notification can handover PBMC Nagar Palika Vidhyalaya to a private body.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Chairperson, PBMC, Mr B Eswar Rao said that the new law doesn’t allow us to teach the nursery students with an unqualified staffs and as one of the PBMC Nagar Palika Vidhyalaya at Ranchi Tikrey is already run by the VKV School so the PBMC has planned to handover the present PBMC Nagar Palika Vidhyalaya at Netaji Stadium to the VKV School.
