Rangat, Jul 02: Acting on a credible information the Rangat Forest escort team seized Sea sand and forest produce from a Forest Department truck, driven by driver of the same department.
It is learnt that the accused is the driver of the forest department who was illegally transporting sea sand and forest produce for his personal use at Rangat. On receiving the information the Forest escort team apprehended the driver along with the truck at Amkunj beach area. All the items were seized by the Escort team which was later brought to DFO office at Rangat.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Daniel, Camp Officer, Betapur informed that the truck seized was under Betapur range of the Forest department which was sent for bringing some departmental items from the office of the DFO, Rangat, a case has been registered against the accused under Forest Act in relevant section, he added. Further investigations are on.
