Port Blair, June 28: One of the Army Jawan of 22 Maratha posted at Chennai who is presently on a visit to these Islands today reportedly attacked some Police Personnel including the Deputy Superintendent of Police, South Andaman.
As per reports, the Army Jawan whose name is not yet known was returning from Kadakachang from his relative’s house and while coming to Chatham in a ferry he had some arguments with the Boat Master following which, the boat master reported the matter to the Police.
As per sources, after the matter was reported the Police Personnel deputed at Chatham Jetty were ordered to take the Army Jawan into their custody but unfortunately the Army Jawan attacked the Police Personnel deputed at the Jetty.
It is learnt that during the time of scene the DySP South Andaman reached the spot where he was also attacked by the Army Jawan.
Sources further said that when the Army Jawan was brought to the Police Station, he reportedly created a scene at the Police Station and also attacked the Sub Inspectors and Police Jawans in the PS. Soon police Personnel brought him under control.
The Army Jawan was later brought to the GB Pant Hospital for medical check with police guards and was later booked for assaulting Public Servant and damaging government property.
It is also learnt that the Deputy Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, Mr Nishant Gupta sustained fracture on one of his fingers, when he was attacked by the Army Jawan.
