Port Blair, June 25: On 22nd June, 2017, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliaments of A&N Islands visited the Ministry of Housing, New Delhi and confirmed that the Ministry of Housing,Urban and Poverty Alleviation Mr. Venkaiah Naidu Ji has approved for construction of 1,27,674 No’s houses with an investment of Rs,6,532.00 Cr and central Assistance of Rs. 1915.00 Cr in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Out of the total approval, the State of Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka has got additional houses of 70,784 No’s and 56,281 No’s respectively in addition to existing approval. Whereas the Ministry of HUPA ,GOI has approved in first time for construction of 609 number houses in Urban area of Andaman and Nicobar Islands with an investment of Rs. 54.00 Crs. and Central Assistance of Rs.09.00 Crs.
As per the scheme of PMAY (URBAN), there are two components, one each for “Affordable Housing in Partnership” and “Beneficiary Led Construction”. Under this scheme each beneficiary will get the Central Assistance of Rs.01.50 lakhs. Till date, the Ministry of HUPA has approved for construction of 20, 95,718 No’s houses altogether under PMAY (Urban) .
