Port Blair, June 23: The Lt. Governor has directed to continue supply of Sugar to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families through PDS as per GOI norms i.e 1 Kg per family per month at a total overall price of Rs.15/- per kg. It may be recalled here that supply of sugar through PDS was stopped in the territory from May 2017 onwards for all categories of Ration Card holders on account of discontinuation of subsidy by GoI @ Rs.18.50/- per kg amounting to subsidy of Rs. 8.6 Croresapprox annually. However, subsequently GoI has allowed subsidy on sugar under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category at the same rate for sugar @ 1 kg per family per month.Port Blair, June 23: The Lt. Further, in order to mitigate the burden of vulnerable houses to some extent, especially against the price fluctuations, the Lt. Governor has also directed to continue supply of sugar to PHH (Priority Household) families of the UT too, at the same scale fixed to AAY families by the GOI (i.e 01 Kg per family per month) at an overall price of Rs.30/-. The cost overburden in both categories shall be borne by the A&N Administration.
All Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PHH) beneficiaries covered under NFSA are hereby informed that distribution of sugar under PDS from July 2017 onwards shall be as per scale and price as indicated below:
