Port Blair, June 20: A senior staff of Directorate of Health Services was arrested by the South Andaman Police on Sunday last for manhandling a Police Jawan namely, A Shaukat Ali at Joda Kalan, Sippighat.
As per reports, the aforesaid staff of DHS was coming from Sippighat towards Garacharma without wearing the seatbelt following which the Police Personnel’s at the Bari gate at Joda Kalan stopped the staff and imposed a fine against him for not wearing the seatbelt.
It is learnt that after the police personnel’s imposed the challan the DHS staff started arguing with the Police. Just then a Police Vehicle came at the spot to take a drunken driver for medical test at PHC Garacharma when the DHS staff started kicking the vehicle and also pushed the Police Personnel A Shaukat Ali who came in the vehicle. Not only this, the DHS staff also created a big scene in the Police Station, it is learnt.
As soon as the incident happened the DHS staff, was immediately arrested and was detained for the night and after taking appropriate action he was produced in the Court of Law from where he was granted bail on health ground.
