Port Blair, Jun 06: The renowned social worker Shri Anna Hazare invited Shri.K.Venkatesan, Assistant Professor and HoD of Homescience Department, JNRM to Ralegan Siddhi Village, Ahmed Nagar, Maharastra.
The day long discussion held on various issues, problems and solutions related to village development. Shri. Anna Hazare has also reiterated that there is no alcohol, Cigratee, shops in Ralegan Siddhi.
Professor K Venkatesan has shared his reminiscence of Shri. Anna Hazare during his student life in Gandhigram Rural Institute and also as an employee in CAPART (MoRD, GOI).
Shri.Anna Hazare suggested few successful models in rural development especially watershed development and community participation alongwith sufficient examples of failure models and its reason.
The Ralegan Siddhi village is having self sufficiency of water and natural resources for agriculture development because of the relentless service of Anna Hazare and now Ralegan Siddhi is a model village.
The nearby villages are also implementing the model of Ralegan Siddhi. Shri Anna Hazare reportedly appreciated professor Venkatesan for doing excellent field work and extension activity in rural areas.
