Port Blair, June 02: In view of approaching World Environment Day Coast Guard in A&N is conducting series of activities for creating awareness about environment conservation. These activities include tree plantation, awareness lectures and pledges.
Amongst these activities to commemorate World Environment Day, a lecture on environment conservation was conducted for Coast Guard personnel by Dr Jayant Kumar Mishra, HOD Ocean Studies and Marine Biology on 02 Jun 17. The lecture was attended by Officers, Personnel and Civilians of Coast Guard Region (A&N). Dr JK Mishra emphasised on the effects of climate change, which are adversely affecting the biodiversity by damaging the coral reef of Andamans. He further reiterated that the effort should be from one and all towards educating the next generation about preserving the environment and reducing the carbon footprint by encouraging the reduction in consumption of plastic and paper in. Lecture also focused on various aspects of conserving environment and its effects on climate change.
Indian Coast Guard is committed to put its best foot forward towards betterment of environment, reduction in carbon emissions and healthy future for coming generations. In series of events related to environment day, Coast Guard personnel will join hands in plantation drive inside Coast Guard premises on 05 Jun17.
