Port Blair, May 30: A patrolling team comprising of Police, AAJVS and Forest Dept led by SI Mohd. Rafique, I/c OP Tirur, proceeded for joint patrolling in Jarawa Reserve area of western coast from Temple Myo Dinghy Ghat in Forest Engine Dinghy on 25/05/2017. On the same day at 1705 hrs, when the joint patrolling party reached at Jarawa reserve area at Bada Balu, they noticed that 04 persons namely 1) G. Yadav Rao S/o G. Eswar Rao (25)yrs R/o Junglighat, Port Blair, 2) C.H. Bhaskar Rao (55yrs) S/o Late. C.H. Ramanna, Fishermen R/o Junglighat, 3) G. Vallabha Rao (40yrs) S/o Shri. G. Kumar Rao, Fishermen R/o Junglighat, 4) G. Eswar Rao (50yrs) S/o Late. G. Kurma Rao, Fishermen R/o Junglighat were indulged in fishing activities with one engine dinghy and one Oars dinghy. The joint patrolling party reached them and asked to produce permit/license to enter into Jarawa Reserve Area but they failed to do so. Consequently, they were arrested U/s 7/8 of PAT Regulation 1956 at 1730 hrs and seized one engine dinghy fitted with 14 HP Kirloskar engine bearing Reg. No. IND-AN-SA-MO-542 and one Oars dinghy and other articles.
Later, the 04 arrested persons and the seized articles were brought to PS Ograbraj and they were booked under relevant sections of law. The whole operation was conducted under the command of Inspector Rizwan Hassan, SHO PS Ograbraj and close supervision and guidance of Shri M.A. Naushad, SDPO (Bambooflat).
The general public especially our fishermen community is requested to refrain themselves from entering into or indulging in fishing activities in the prohibited areas (Jarawa Reserved Areas) failing which legal action will be initiated against them. Any information in this regard may be passed on to Police Control Room (Ph: 100, 232100) or PMF Control Room (1093, 239247) and identity of the informer would be kept secret.
