Port Blair, May 30: The Daily Rated Mazdoor of State Transport Service today threatened of holding a protest at Jantar-Mantar, Delhi if the Administration recruits new staffs as Drivers and conductors in the Department.
Recently, after hearing radio news, the DRMs working in the department in the capability of Drivers and Conductors since last 10-12 years, learnt that the State Transport Service Department is going to recruit new DRMs in the same capability soon.
Learning about the news the DRMs of the Department working since last 10-12 years gathered in the STS Bus Terminus today at 11:00am and after discussion they decided that if the administration does not take back the decision of recruiting new DRMs, they will hold a chakka jam protest in front of the STS Bus Terminus and if required they will also hold a protest at Jantar-Mantar, New Delhi.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, one of the DRM working as a Driver in the Department since last 12 years said that the Department has regularised all the DRMs since 2004 to 2014 but they stopped such process since 2015 for which a case is already in the Court following which how could the Department recruit new staffs before the judgement of the Court?
Further another DRM working in the Department since last 10 years said that the Department have to roll back the decision of recruiting new staffs otherwise all the staffs in all the 14 islands will sit on the protest.
Top officials in the Department refused to comment in this matter, when contacted.
