Port Blair, May 29: The PS Kalighat received a credible information on last Friday that BRB bar owner namely Nityanand Roy of Kalighat is illegally selling liquor bottles at exorbitant rate from his room near Kalighat Panchayat market on which a police team headed by SI Rakesh Singh, SHO, PS Kalighat reached the spot and found that the bar owner was selling IMFL. The bottles were sealed by Tehsildar Diglipur during December 2016.
As per details, he illegally opened the roof sheet of the sealed room and was selling the sealed IMFL by illegal means.
On which the matter was immediately informed to SDM Diglipur who also reached the spot along with revenue staff and opened the sealed door, conducted spot verification of stock of IMFL and directed the undersigned to take legal action.
In this matter the PS Kalighat seized 130 bottles of 750ml company sealed and 19 bottles of 750 ml loose quantity and arrested the accused Nityanand Roy on the spot.
The accused was booked under excise regulation and also disobedience of official order by Tehsildar Diglipur.
