Port Blair, May 29: A three days training programme on “Scientific Cultivation Practices of Paddy” was organized at Panchwati, Rangat by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, CIARI, N & M Andaman .The training was inaugurated by Shri. Manero Mondal, PRI Member, in his inaugural speech he lauded the efforts of KVK for organizing the most needed training for the farming community of the area. Shri B.L. Meena (Agronomy) briefed about the training and urged the farmers and participants to adopt scientific approach for paddy cultivation which will enhance soil health and fertility, leading to increased productivity and food security.
Er. Manoj Kumar (Agrl.Engg) briefed the trainees on use of machinery and implements in paddy to reduce drudgery and save the constrain of time. Dr Pooja Kapoor, (Home Sc.) discussed about nutritional importance and value added products of paddy.
A total of 27 farmers benefitted from the training programme. The training was organised under the supervision of Dr. B.L Kasinath, Sr. Scientist & Head. KVK, N & M Andaman and under the guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
Earlier, Er. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agril. Engg.)welcomed the Chief Guest and the participants where as Dr. Pooja Kapoor SMS (Home Science) proposed the vote of thanks.
