Port Blair, May 25: The Lt Governor of A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has expressed his deep condolence over the tragic death of two school students at Collinpur beach due to drowning today afternoon.
A group of six students went to picnic at Collinpur beach. Out of the six students, two boys Ritesh Ram, aged 17 yrs, R/o Ferrargunj, a class XII student and Anjan Kumar Nag, 18 yrs, R/o Ferrargunj, a class X student ventured into the rough sea for swimming.
When the two students did not return back and immediately after the information was received at PS Ograbraj, the staff of this Police Station was deployed for the search and rescue operation.
Due to the dedicated efforts of SDPO Bambooflat, MA Nausad and SHO Ograbraj Inspector Rizuan Hassan and his team the dead body of both the students were recovered within 3-4 hours.
The students were immediately rushed to GB Pant hospital where they were declared dead.
The Lt Governor has also expressed his deep condolences to the members of bereaved families.
