
Port Blair, May 22: The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi today visited Primary Health Centre (PHC) Garacharma and took stock of the facilities in the hospital. The Principal Secretary (Health), Shri. Raajiv Yaduvanshi, the Secretary to LG, Shri A.K. Singla, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Udit Prakash Rai, the Councillor Ward No. 18, Smt. Rubana Aziz, the Director, Health Services, Smt. Shipra Paul and officers of DHS and APWD were present during the visit.
The Lt. Governor visited the male and female ward of the PHC and interacted with the patients and enquired about their health. He also enquired from the DHS the medical facilities available in the PHC for the in-patient and out –patients.
After taking stock of the facilities available, the Lt. Governor directed the DHS for installing an ultrasound machine for the benefit of the patients by July 2017. He further directed the APWD to upgrade the existing medical block by November 2017 for starting an Operation Theatre in the PHC.
