Port Blair, May 21: The Directorate of Tourism in association with National Institute of Water Sports, Goa (NIWS) is conducting Lifesaving Technique- Water Sports (LST-WS), Power Boat Handling-Tiller, Surf Lifesaving Techniques- Silver (SLST), Jet Ski, Lifesaving Technique-Pool Lifeguard (LST-P) Snorkelling Guide training programme. The objective of the course is to set standard for practicing of adventure water sports activities in terms of operation and immediate required respondence into these activities. The training programme would enhance the ability to perform the task appropriately and act upon diligently during emergencies.
The details of course structure, eligibility, duration, fee applicable, submission of application etc are as follows: –

Should be proficient in swimming and complete 100-meter lap in placid water non-stop with 03 minutes for admission/ licensing/ certification. (A screen test in swimming proficiency is suggestive for all candidates to be nominated/ selected, as it would help attain better success rates).

3. Surf Life Saving Technique – Silver (SLST-S)

1. Swimming ability: Complete 400 hundred meters swimming in 09 minutes or less in the swimming pool or measured open water-body.
2. Physical fitness: Run-Swim-Run test : To run 200 mts through surf and then swim 100 mts out through the surf (without aids), then swim back 100 mts and further run of 200 mts. Total time permitted is around 08 minutes.
4. Jet Ski 04 Rs. 5000/- 1. Required 06 months of operational experience upon certification in Powerboat Handling-Tiller

(A screen test in swimming proficiency is suggestive for all candidates to be nominated/ selected, as it would help attain better success rates).
6. Snorkelling 02 Rs. 2000/- Lifesaving Technique –Water sports (LSTWS) shall be mandatory for issuance of the license
The candidates intending to undergo training courses mentioned above shall submit their applications in the prescribed format at Directorate of Tourism during all working days along with the Demand Draft and register their names up to 31/05/2017. The schedule of the training programme will be informed to the candidates in due course.
