Port Blair, May 21: On assuming the reins of Coast Guard Region A&N, Inspector General KR Suresh called on Lt Governor A&N, Professor Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Niwas on 20th May 17. During the meeting, the Coast Guard Commander briefed the Lt Governor on future prospects of Coast Guard operations in A&N besides discussions on various issues pertaining to security of the islands and safety of fishermen and coastal populace.
Lt Governor appreciated the Coast Guard in A&N islands towards the yeomen services rendered to the people of isles and mariners despite limited resources. The Lt Governor also lauded the efforts of the Coast Guard towards securing the maritime interests of the strategically located isles.
The Lt Governor valued the existing connect between Coast Guard and coastal community in remote Islands of A&N. He requested the Coast Guard Commander to strengthen this bond and work in close coordination with all the stakeholders viz. Andaman and Nicobar Command, Administration, Police, PMB, Fisheries, Forest and coastal populace for overall progress and growth of the people of A&N Islands, a communique received from CG PRO.
