Port Blair, May 21: The Traffic Police Unit, Port Blair has imposed around 25610 challans till date in this year and has collected more than Rs 42 lakhs from the challan imposed by them.
The Traffic Police Unit has also appealed the General Public to obey the Traffic Rules so that they may be safe on the roads.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Umar has said that as this season is of accidents because being a vacation, most of the students without proper documents take their vehicle out without putting it in the knowledge of their parents that results into accidents.
He said that the Traffic Police Unit is putting all the possible efforts to aware the General Public. “The Traffic Police Jawans have conducted a number of awareness campaigns in the school, colleges and at different areas,” Mr Umar said.
Mr Umar further said that not only this, the Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands is also creating awareness among the public by giving statement in Cinema Theatre etc.
Mr Umar lastly said that he will let no stones unturned to control the traffic in the city but finally it’s also the duty of the General Public to follow all traffic rules, so that they may be safe on roads.
