Port Blair, May 19: Voluntary Blood Donation Camps (VBD Camp) was organised by INS UTKROSH, the Naval AIR Station, Port Blair at MI room on 19th May 2017. The VBD camp was facilitated by A & N AIDS Control Society. 158 units of blood were collected from the volunteers.
The camp was inaugurated by Commodore Ashutosh Ridhorkar, the Commander of the Naval Component at Port Blair. Personnel from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Civilian employees of Ministry of Defence and volunteers from civil population of Port Blair donated blood voluntarily.
Dr. M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society supervise the camp. In his address to the gathering, he motivated the gathering to donate blood for the noble cause as it saves precious life. He also briefed to the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation.
The medical/laboratory staff of the Society and Blood Bank, GB Pant Hospital conducted the camp befittingly.
