Port Blair, Apr 28: The PCC President Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma taking concern of the age barred unemployed youths met the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration and invited his attention to the age limit prescribed in the ‘Vacancy Notice’ published in The Daily Telegram on 14th April, 2017 by the Andaman &Nicobar Administration for conduct of common recruitment examination for various categories of Group ‘C’ posts in the Pay Band-I with Grade Pay of Rs. 1800/- lying vacant in different departments of the administration.
The PCC President informed the Chief Secretary that grievance of the over aged unemployed youths is genuine and needs consideration as the administration after a gap nearly six years has taken up the step to fill the vacancies available in the different department of administration by conduct of a common recruitment examination. Shri Sharma opined that the decision of Administration is an outcome of the failure of various departments to fill up the vacant posts despite publication of vacancy notices inviting application for recruitment.
The Chief Secretary was apprised of the instances in the past where the administration has considered giving age relaxation in respect of recruitment to the post of Physical Education Teachers, Staff Nurses etc. Hence such consideration in age relaxation may also be extended for the present recruitment drive, Shri Kuldeep added.
