Manarghat, Apr 21: Shri Udit Prakash Rai (IAS), Secretary (RD, PRIs & ULBs), A & N Admin. / Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District today laid the foundation stone for Construction work of Rural Haat under jurisdiction of Gram Panchayat Mannarghat. Shri Udit Prakash Rai (IAS) unveiled the plaque to mark the foundation stone lying in the presence of Shri Hemant B. Songadkar, General Manager, NABARD, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Office & Shri O. Bashir, Pradhan, GramPanchayatMannarghat with large gathering of local pupils on 21/04/2017. On arrival a warm welcome was given by the villagers to the dignitaries by bouquets & shawls. An amount of Rupees Ten Lakhs was funded by the NABARD out of total upcoming project cost of Rs. 12,54,994/-.
In A & N Islands it is a first attempt of NABARD to provide financial assistance to gram panchayat for construction of rural haat, explain by Shri Hemant B. Songadkar (GM) on his speech. Shri Udit Prakash Rai (IAS)expressing his deep satisfaction over the upcoming project, it provides good platform for local farmers & daily vendors for consumption their product on local market.Earlier on the behalf of administration the compensation of Rs. 1.5 Lakhs was disburse by DC South Andaman to the family members of deceased Marynaush, R/o Sholbay, who lose his life by felled a tree to him. The Pradhan Shri O. Bashir expressed his sincere thanks on the behalf of local villagers of gram panchayat Mannarghat for sparing his valuable time from busy schedule.
