The observance of Fire Service Day on April 14 every year reminds us about the noble task being performed by Fire Service personnel to save precious lives and property. It is an occasion for all of us to thank the Fire Service Personnel for the invaluable services they render to the society and also to pay homage to those Fire Service personnel who sacrificed their lives in the performance of duty.
Besides fire safety, fire prevention and fire fighting, the Fire Service also has a role to play in Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Management, as they are one of the first responders in any disaster.
A&N Fire Service has always displayed a high degree of commitment and sincerity, in discharge of their duty. On the occasion of Fire Service Day, I congratulate all the personnel of the A&N Police Fire Service for their exemplary performance and hope that the Fire Service Week starting from April 14 to April 20, 2017 will generate adequate public awareness about fire safety.
