
Port Blair, Apr 5: Rousing welcome awaits Union Home Minister of India, Mr. Rajnath Singh, who is arriving on a three-day visit to the Islands tomorrow (Apr 6). Soon after arrival, the Union Home Minister will visit the National Memorial, Cellular Jail and lay wreath at the Martyr’s Column there in the evening. Thereafter, the Home Minister will hold meeting with the Lt. Governor, Member of Parliament and Senior Officers of the A&N Administration at Raj Niwas.
The Union Home Minister is scheduled to visit Guptapara Village to lay the foundation stone for the Solar Power Plant at 9.30 am on April 7, 2017. Thereafter, the Home Minister will depart for Car Nicobar by BSF Aircraft. At Car Nicobar, the Home Minister will visit Mus Church at 11.35 am and lay wreath at the graveyard of Late Bishop John Richardson, followed by a visit to Tsunami Memorial and laying of wreath and viewing of gallery. Thereafter, the Home Minister will visit Malacca Village and inaugurate the new building of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Malacca at 12.35 pm. He will also interact with the Captains and other tribal leaders of Tribal Council Car Nicobar.
The Home Minister will return to Port Blair from Car Nicobar in the evening of Apr 7 itself. At Port Blair, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to visit Ross Island and witness the Light & Sound show there. Thereafter, the Home Minister will attend the ‘Civic Reception’, to be organised by the Port Blair Municipal Council at the ITF ground at 6.35 pm.
On April, 8, 2017, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to visit Havelock Island. After returning from Havelock, the Home Minister will meet various social groups at Raj Niwas. On completion of the visit, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to depart for Delhi by the BSF Aircraft in the afternoon of Apr 8, 2017.
