Diglipur, Apr 02: The failed attempts of Diglipur administration have let the Fishermen and Fish Vendors of Diglipur area to continue their protest till today. The Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur even after trying his third attempt was failed to convince the protestors.
The Fishermen and Fish Vendors of Diglipur area are on a Chakka Jam protest since 30th March in front of the Administrative Building of Diglipur demanding re-shifting the fish market to the older one.
According to reports, on 01st March the Diglipur Administration shifted the old fish market to the new one at Subhashgram -5 and the fish vendors also started their business at new market. In a week later a complaint was made by the fish vendors to the Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur that their business is not going well and sales are plunging at new market and they wanted to shift back to old market.
All roads including NH were blocked since 12 o clock to 08:30pm. As per the general public of the area, who was mentally harassed due to the blockage told Andaman Sheekha that they didn’t saw any positive effort from the side of the Police because of which the strike is still continuing.
Seeing the opposition from the general public the
road was cleared for traffic at 08.30pm. Later they prepared their meals in front of Admin building and left to their homes. As per last reports poured in, the protestors are going to continue their protest even tomorrow.
