Diglipur, Mar 19: Aiming at promoting and marketing the handicraft products manufactured by the Self Help Groups of Diglipur, the NABARD in collaboration with the Mahila Seva Sangh NGO and managed by Lotus Self Help Group has inaugurated a Rural Mart at Subhashgram, Diglipur on 18th March. The Rural Mart was inaugurated by Mr.Hemant Songadkar, General Manager, NABARD in the presence of Mrs. Alpana Mondal Pradhan, Subhashgram.
IPO Mr Swapan Mallick. Mrs Jharna Singh welcomed the gathering thanked NABARD for its schemes towards empowerment of women and also extending such a golden opportunity for the SHG handicraft artisans. Industries Promotion Officer, Mr Mallick called up the womenfolk to make use of the opportunity to promote and market their products directly to the consumers. He also exhorted them to identify the core areas of expertise in which they can excel and assured that, NABARD will provide requisite training for them. Mr. Hemant Songadkar, General Manager, NABARD elaborated on various schemes being implemented by the NABARD for empowerment of women. Stating that, the rural mart opened at Diglipur is a third initiative of the NABARD after the first one being at Havelock, Second one at Neil. The rent for the Rural mart shop and sales person will be paid by the NABARD for the first two years. He also announced that Rangat will also soon get a Rural Mart.
After the function the rural Mart shop inaugurated near old fish market Subhashgram by the Mr. Hemant Songadkar, General Manager, NABARD.
