Port Blair, Mar 16: Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Port Blair is one among the 10 nodal schools, selected by the NITI Ayog to establish the Atal Tinkering Lab with the support of Intel Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. The objective of the lab is to foster curiosity, adaptive learning, physical computing etc. ATL will provide an opportunity to the students to work with tools & equipment to understand what, how and why aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
Atal Tinkering Laboratory would contain educational and learning ‘do it yourself’ kits and equipments on Science, Electronics, Robotics, Open Source Micro Controller Boards, Sensors and 3 D printers.
NITI Ayog has already transferred the first installment of grant in aid of Rs 12 lakhs to the Model school for establishing the said lab. Intel technology India Pvt. Ltd. Shall provide some equipments and arrange the services of innovation coach under the CSR (Cooperate social responsibility).
The selection of the Model School for the award of this prestigious ATL was based on the four rounds of selection process held at various places, in which Model School qualified.
An Orientation session was organized for the ATL team of 10 nodal schools by the Intel Technology India Pvt (Ltd) in New Delhi. Meanwhile the school has taken up the necessary steps to set up the lab.
