Port Blair, Mar 14: The Member of Parliament, A & N Islands Shri Bishnu Pada Ray laid the foundation stone on11.03.2017 for improvement and widening of State Highway-09 (03.00 meter to 05.50 meter) with a stretch of 10.00 Kilometers from Chunna Bhatta to Ferrargunj at a total cost of Rs:7,85,89,330/- under Central Road Fund in the presence of Shri Jaidip Kumar Dey, Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad, South Andaman District, Shri Sandip Biswas, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Ferrargunj and Pradhans of the respective areas. Shri Manikya Rao, President Telugu Desham Party was also present during the occasion.
This stretch of road was declared as State Highway long back, but the Department of APWD did not go ahead to improve the road for want of fund. However after ample efforts of Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has please to sanction the amount of Rs.9.63 Crores under Central Road Fund to undertake the work. The APWD invited the tender on 28.11.2016 and opened on 19.01.2017.Total four (4) firms took part and offered their lowest rate. Comparatively the rated quoted by M/s CSE Construction (India) for Rs:7,85,89,330/- was found lowest amongst others and awarded the work. Fund sanctioned for above works by the Ministry is for Rs.9.63 Crores and the work has been awarded at cost of Rs:6,85,89,330/-. Thus saving Govt. fund of Rs: 1,77, 10,670/- due to e- tendering process, which is a transparent and corruption free process.
