
Port Blair, Mar 10: An impressive parade by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel marked the 48th raising Day celebrations of the CISF at the Haddo Wharf premises here today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar as the chief guest inspected the parade by the CISF contingent and took the salute.
In his brief address on the occasion, the Chief Secretary greeted the CISF personnel and their family members on the occasion of the Raising Day. The Chief Secretary noted with appreciation the dedicated services being rendered by the CISF in the security of important establishments including Nuclear and Space Installations. He also appreciated the role of CISF in disaster management and relief and rescue works carried out during any natural calamity. The Chief Secretary stated that the strength of CISF in the Isles will be increased and CISF will be deployed at Junglighat Jetty and Havelock Island very soon. He also distributed prizes to the runners and winners of the Tug of war competition. The Chief Port Administrator, Dr. R D Tripathi presented a memento to the Chief Secretary on the occasion.
Impressive parade commanded by SI, Shri S Raveendran, reflex shooting demo in different positions and mock exercise on fidayeen attack and neutralization of the attack by the CISF applying their professional acumen held under the guidance of Assistant Commandant AK Sharma, CISF Port Unit were the highlight of the Raising Day function. The CISF team led by Head Constable, S Biswal won the Tug of war competition.
The Port Blair CISF unit established in the year November, 2012 is looking after the security of wharf and airport. The CISF force came into existence in 1969 as a specially trained force to provide security cover to the public sector undertakings.
