Port Blair, Mar 03: South Andaman Police is determined to curb the menace of illicit brewing and illegal sale of IMFL in Port Blair city on 26-02-2017, on receipt of credible information regarding accumulation of huge quantity of liquor for the purpose of illegal selling, a police team headed by Insp. Arun Kr. Singh, SHO, P. S. Aberdeen carried out raid at Prem Nagar, Round Basti and Shadipur area and recovered a total of 43 IMFL bottles of 750 ml, upon which 03 cases were booked under Excise Regulation against three persons namely (1) Durai Swamy (38) yrs. R/o School Line, (2) Sai Babu (41) yrs. R/o Round Basti and (3) Shadab Mohammed (35) yrs. R/o Nayagaon near Aires Bar respectively.
Similarly on 27-02-2017, on receipt of similar information the police team carried out raid at Nayagaon, Shadipur, Phoenix Bay, Aberdeen Bazar area and recovered a total of 54 IMFL bottles of 750 ml, 27 bottles 375 ml & 386 bottles of 180 ml IMFL, on which five persons namely (1) C. Sonu Raj (36) R/o Nayagaon, (2) Shekh Mohd. Sourab (43) yrs R/o South Point, (3) Vijay Raj (34)yrs R/o South Point, (4) V. Kannan (42) yrs R/o Phongy Chaung and (5) Subash Kumar (21) yrs R/o Phoenix Bay were book under Excise Regulation.
The general public is requested to keep surveillance over the movements of newcomers/strangers in their respective locality and pass on information pertaining to such illegal activities by unscrupulous and anti-social elements on the following telephone numbers 233077, 232405, 232400 & 100. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
