Diglipur, Mar 03: The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar reached Diglipur today on a two day visit.
He was accompanied by the Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Deputy Commissioner N &M Andaman Shri Arava Gopi Krishna, IAS.
After reaching Diglipur, the Chief Secretary visited Kalighat Jetty and interacted with the people of Kalighat and Jagannath Dera.
After that he laid foundation stone for five projects at Ramnagar Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
At GSS Ramnagar construction of 1 No class room with estimated cost of about 23 lakhs and time of completion by Mar 2017 end, Construction of Rural road from Chintaharan Dhali’s house to KK Baidya house at Ramnagar for a length of 950 mtr at ward no 5 of Ramnagar under MPLAD Scheme, Construction of Kitchen Block and Toilet Block including repair and modification existing Anganwadi at Ward No 1 of Ramnagar with an estimated cost of 13 Lakh and will be completed by Mar’2017, Construction of Kitchen Block and Toilet Block including repair and modification of existing Anganwadi at Bengali Basti at Ward No 7 of Ramnagar with an estimated cost of 13 lakhs and will be completed by Mar’2017and Construction of Kitchen Block and Toilet Block including repair and modification existing Anganwadi at Ward No 2 of Ramnagar with an estimated cost of 13 Lakh and will be completed by Mar 2017.
He also inspected Smart class room at GSS Ramnagar and Handicraft class at Gram Panchayat Ramnagar and interacted with the students.
Thereafter CS attended Review meeting of SAGY at Community hall at Ramnagar Gram Panchayat where updated status of the executed works as per VDP in SAGY village Ramnagar discussed. The meeting was also attended by the Member of Parliament, DC N & M Andaman, AC Diglipur, AC Mayabunder, Zilla Parishad Adhyaksh N & M Andaman, ZP Upadhyaksh , Pramukh Diglipur, Pradhan Ramnagar, PRI members HOD’s of all Departments and general public.
Speaking on this occasion the Chief Secretary asked the authorities and public to strive hard for open defecation-free village of SAGY. He also urgued the Forest officials to come up with basic infrastructure for tourism development and permanent solution for tourism activities like adventure sports, night staying facilities at Ramnagar beach so that employment can be generated.
After the meeting he also inspected the Ramnagar beach with Forest and Revenue officials.
Tomorrow morning he will visit Ross & Smith Island and Paschimsagar where he will inspect various projects and interact with public. On completion of tour he will return back to Port Blair on 5th Mar.
