Port Blair, Feb 26: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament A & N Islands visited VKV Rangat, Govt Senior Secondary School, Sabri and Govt. Secondary School, Rangat and interacted the Students, parents & residents of Rangat area. While addressing the gathering, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament through the Power Point Presentation has highlighted various developmental works under taken recently in A &N Islands. He further informed the gathered that Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, the Lt.Governor, A& N Islands is taking every possible step for all arround development of Islands/islanders. Mr. Ray has given brief deliberation on the followings recent developments:
Submarine Optical Fibre Cable connecting between Chennai and Port Blair. Considering the approach of the Member Parliament, Prof Jagdish Mukhi, the Lt. Governor has taken initiative with the concerned Ministry and also with the Prime Minister of India for getting sanctioning of Rs. 1102.38 Crores for laying Optical Fibre Cable between Chennai and Port Blair to improve Internet services in A & N Islands. Now the same is under tendering process with BSNL.
Improvement of Orthopedic treatment facilities in G.B. Pant Hospital: Through Power Point Presentation Mr. Ray has loudly expressed that Prof. Jagdish Mukhi the Lt. Governor is very serious for improvement of treatment facilities for the Islanders and consequent upon that a “modernized operation theater” facilitating with modern equipments and mechanism have been installed in G.B. Pant Hospital for handling various complicated cases related to Orthopedic surgery/treatment.
Ban on use of Tobacco and other alcoholic products in Andaman: While giving awareness about the bad impact on use of Tobacco and alcoholic products, the students, teachers, parents and other public have expressed their happiness for the decision of Prof. Jagdish Mukhi the Lt. Governor of this territory for imposing ban on use of tobacco and alcoholic products in A &N islands. Mr. Ray further urged the students and the participants to give awareness amongst the Peer group and the parents about the harmful effects of tobacco and other alcoholic products.
