Baratang, Feb 06: The 49th Annual Athletic meet of GSSS Oralkatcha, Baratang for the academic year- 2016-17was held at the forest ground on 3rd February 2017.
Smti. Manjula Tirkey Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Rangat was the chief guest while Dr. Annie Das, Medical officer In charge, PHC Baratang was the guest of honor for the opening ceremony. A large number of spectators thronged on this occasion.
Smti. M.V. Jolly, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering .The meet was declared opened by the chief guest. Nearly 100 number of students participated in various events. The students presented an impressive March Past which was followed by a number of colorful displays such as Mass Drill, Dumb-bells and Yoga. The foremost attraction was the hoops drill by tiny tots of primary, rhythmic gymnastics which was a feast to the eyes of the audience.
Declaring the meet open, Smti. Manjula Tirkey, the chief guest exhorted the students to excel in the field of sports and games, emphasizing the importance of physical culture. She highlighted the role of such meet in promoting the spirit of sportsmanship as well as discipline.
Shri. Ali Mumtaz, A.E., APDW, Baratang was the chief guest of the closing ceremony .He honored the winners and championship of the houses. He congratulated the players who bought laurels to school by participating in the Subrato Mukerjee International Football tournament held at New Delhi. He also felicitated Shri. B.Rajesh, PET, the coach of the team and encouraged the team by emphasizing on perseverance, team spirit, discipline and hard work.
The closing ceremony was marked by the scintillating displays of patriotic group dance and fancy dress by the tiny tots of primary classes.
The meet culminated with the proposal of vote of thanks by Smti. Puspha Nag, PGT.
