Port Blair, Feb 03: With a zeal to provide safe food to the consumers, the Food Safety Unit, South Andaman has searched/raided upon the Food Business Operators of South Andaman area and trials was conducted and appropriate action deemed fit under the Food Safety Act was been initiated.
In this connection, it is mentioned here that on the raid conducted in the premise of Shri. P.P. Saidalvi, Prop. M/s Lulu Shopping Mall, Aberdeen Bazaar today, the Adjudicating Officer (ADM) has imposed a fine of Rs.10,000/- for the charges framed against him under different provision under Food Safety Act’ 2006.
Similarly, on Jan 28 in the matter of tobacco sellers, one Shri C. Swaminathan R/o Dairy Farm has been found guilty for storage of contraband products from his possession and the Adjudicating Officer(ADM) has imposed a fine of Rs.15,000/-. Also in the same case another offender Shri. A. Marimuthu, M/s AM Agency, MG Market, Port Blair has also been found guilty of supplying of contraband products to food business operators and after trial the Adjudicating Officer (ADM) has imposed an amount of Rs.45,000/- on the accused.
Further, all food business operators and manufacturer of milk & milk products suppliers/traders of South Andaman district have been directed to submit their annual return/half yearly returns in for D-1 and D-2 respectively on or before 31st March and 30th May’2017 without fail for records.
