Port Blair, Jan 25: A public meeting of JKP was held recently at Wimberlygunj village of South Andaman. The first speaker Shri. Biswakarma Vice President gave a background about the formation of the party.
Shri. Venkat, Working President demanded reservation of seats in jobs, education etc to the “Third Generation” of the descendants of the permanent settlers and issue them OBC status alternatively separate status to these children for their future benefits. He reminded the gathering that the connectivity between Chatham Jetty and Bambooflat was first proposed by them and which was accepted by the Minister Nitin Gadkari.
He requested for early undertaking of the job for the benefit of the residents of Ferrargunj Tehsil. He also reiterated demand for assembly or Prakash Council at A& N for the better administration of these Islands.
Shri. Prakash Minj, General Secretary in his robust speech said that though the Lt. Governor had agreed to regularize encroached land prior to 2004 yet no action has been taken to complete the job. The concerned people are living in acute worries.
He requested the Administration to hasten the tasks. He also reminded the administration regarding the contribution made by the people of “Ranchi community” in the development of these Islands. He said many of the Ranchi Labourers have died of diseases/accidents/exposure to climatic conditions but their legitimate claim of S.T status is not granted yet. Vote of thank was proposed by Shri. Kujur Master. The meeting ended with three cheers to the party.
