Port Blair, Jan 25: The Officiating Chairperson, UTCPCR Smt. Kiran Tigga, visited Model Sr. Sec. School and Middle School, Sitanagar and Secondary School, Ramnagar to discuss on the issue of Child Friendly Village. A meeting was also held with the Panchayat Members at Panchayat hall Ramnagar and Sitanagar which was attended by Shri Subodh Mondal, Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, Ms Bulbul Mistry, Pradhan, Sitanagar, Shri Swapan Biswas, Pradhan, Ramnagar, Smt. Seema Majhi, Panchayat Samiti Member, Sitanagar, Shri Jhadav Sammaddar, Panchayat Samiti Member, Ramnagar and Shri Mahesh Yadav, SHO Khalighat, Principal, Model Sr. Sec. School, Sitanagar, teachers, Programme Manager and Coordinator of Butterflies, NGO and villagers of Ramnagar.
On her return from Diglipur, Smt. Kiran Tigga along with Members of UTCPCR, Smt. Rubina Siddiqui and Smt. R. Geetha Raj visited Secondary School, Adazig, Middle School, South Creek, Sr. Sec. School, Oral Katcha, Anganwadi’s at Oral Katcha and South Creek and PHC at Baratang. The team interacted with the students who complained about corporal punishment, drinking water in the schools, shortage of teachers, unavailability of Sport materials, insufficient quantity of Mid-day meals, inadequate furniture in the schools etc. The Divyang students informed that there is no barrier free facility in the toilets in the school. The children also informed that they have not been provided with Iron folic tablets.
The stake holders meet which was held in the Baratang Guest House was attended by Shri Biju Gurunathan, Pradhan, South Creek, Smt. Manjula, Pramukh of Rangat Zone, Doctor, representative of Asst. Commissioner, Rangat, Vice Principal, SHO ,teachers, Anganwadi Workers.
The villagers informed that the cases of Tuberclosis are increasing in the area which was also confirmed by the Pradhan and the Vice-Principal of Baratang school.
The issues which came to the knowledge are being taken up by the Commission with all concerned departments.
