New Delhi/ Port Blair, Jan 25: A resident of Diglipur has been awarded the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Republic Day-2017.
Shri. P.Kumara Velu son of Shri. V.Ponnaiah who belongs to Subhashgram village of Diglipur joined Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF) as a constable in the year 1994, later posted in Indo-China Border at Himachal Pradesh.
In the year 2001 he participated in many counter insurgency operations at Jammu & Kashmir. In the same year he was awarded Special Duty Police Medal for his exemplary duties during his posting in extreme high altitude areas.
Presently he is serving in Special Protection Group (SPG) at New Delhi.
