Port Blair, Jan 20: Coast Guard Region (A&N) conducted the annual Drawing and Painting competition “CANVAS-2017” at Coast Guard Indoor Sports complex, Haddo, Port Blair on 20 Jan 17. The event was organized as part of 41st Coast Guard Raising Day celebrations under the theme “Developing Personality Through Creativity”. The competition drew enthusiastic participation from 28 different schools and a total of 150 school students exhibited their talent. The Children showcased the creativity and insight into the aspects of Coast Guard and healthy life. The event was conducted under three different categories in different age groups. Muskan Gupta of Government Senior Secondary School Pothrapur in Group A (1st to 4th standard), G Janisha of Vivekanand Kendra Vidyalaya in Group B (5th to 8th standard) and Vishal Prasad Singh of Nirmala Public School in Group C (9th to 12th standard) were adjudged winners. A live free hand painting demonstration was conducted by Mrs. Usha Sharma (Fine arts teacher, Carmel school) to enhance interest of the young generation in this creative field. Smt. Rashmi Singh, Secretary Social Welfare and General Administration was the chief guest for the event. After culmination of the event results were announced and apposite prizes were awarded to the upcoming artists to boost their confidence.
Similar Drawing and Painting competitions are organized at all Coast Guard stations in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. An inter school Drawing and Painting competition held at Coast Guard Public school, Campbell Bay was participated by 180 students of Great Nicobar on the theme “Demonetisation’’. A Painting competition will also be organized by Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 9 at Diglipur. A Communiqué received from PRO Coast Guard. “Vyamah Rakshamah – We Protect”.
