Port Blair, Jan13: With an aim to conserve & preserve the environment, the Army Component of Andaman & Nicobar Command organized an Environment Drive to commemorate 69th Army Day.
The Environment Drive included Swachhta Abhiyaan and tree plantation at Brichgunj Military Station on 12 January 2017. Over 2000 residents took part in this drive to clean their respective areas and sea beaches. It was followed by plantation of over 500 trees all over the Military Station.
Army Component Commander, Brigadier Amir Singh, Vishist Seva Medal, highlighted the need to instill greater sense of responsibility among all to conserve the environment by collaborative efforts to reverse the dangerous trend of environmental degradation.
The ANC remains committed towards preserving ecological balance towards this, apart from environmental drives conducted by other Components of ANC to commemorate landmark historic events, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan related activities have been conducted on numerous occasions and will continue in future as well.
