Port Blair, Jan 09: Port Blair Municipal Council is making all possible efforts to provide neat and clean surroundings in the Port Blair Municipal area. The cleanliness in the city is appreciated by all the tourist and dignitaries. Our elected representatives and employees are working very hard to provide world class amenities to the citizens. However, there are certain activities which need attention impending the civic authority to achieve the desired result. We therefore seek your very active co-operation so as to enable us to provide better living conditions in town.
In this regard PBMC has sought co-operations from general public like Throwing of solid waste in the drains / sea, Littering on the roads/parks/markets, Indiscriminate throwing of waste paper, polythene bags, cartons etc. outside the shops by the shopkeepers, Throwing of rotten fruits and vegetables on the roadside by the vendors and hawkers, Littering by picnickers and holidays revelers in the tourist places, Dumping of garbage outside the Municipal dustbins, Stacking building materials on the roadside, Stray cattle on the roads and public places, Spiting and urinating in public places.
The list is not exhaustive but only indicative which we consider to be against the civic norms and which militate against our efforts to keep the town neat and tidy.
PBMC has requested the general public to strengthen the efforts of Municipal Council by their own active support by providing the co-operation which will be highly valued. For building up a movement for cleanliness suggestions are also invited from general public.
