Port Blair, Jan 04: A Programme on ‘How to excel in studies by improving concentration’ was organized for the students of higher classes at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Port Blair yesterday. The Secretary of the Ram Krishna Mission Swami Amartyanandaji was the main speaker. Addressing around 300 students of the different sections of class XI at the school auditorium, he said that youth is the main driving force in taking the country to greater heights. Quoting swami Vivekananda’s teaching, he said that the youth has infinite potential, and if it is channelized in right direction, then nothing is impossible. Swami Amartyanandaji said that the youth has to feel his or her capabilities. He said that the reason for not doing well in the Examinations by the students is in fact, lack of concentration. A student having this attribute utilizes only 25% of his energy.
Swamiji said that the student needs to control his mind by doing meditation and preventing negative thoughts. These thoughts he said, will generate only negative energy, which in result, does nothing good. Negative thoughts and energy takes the student to the world of fantasy, and thus the precious time of studies gets wasted. Talking about the impact of the peer group, he said a student receives positive energy, when he keeps himself in the company of the students of good character.
The Principal of the School Shri G. Sara Chandran while proposing vote of thanks, called upon the students to develop their personalities by imbibing good values and thoughts. He hoped that they would follow the practices advised by Swamiji and would do well in studies, by improving the level of concentration.
The executive member of the Mission, Shri Hemchandra was also present in the programme. Books on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda were also distributed to the students.
