
Port Blair, Jan 03:- The Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank has organised a function for the distribution of Cooperative Card for door delivery of pensions for old age, widow and disabled persons for Burmanallah branch was on 2nd Jan, 2017 at 03.30 pm. Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman, NABARD was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Programme was also attended by Shri. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, A & N State Coop. Bank, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Vice Chairman, ANSCB, Shri. Hament Bhasker Songadkar, GM, NABARD, Board of Directors of the Bank, Shri. Parmasivam, Up-Pradhan, Beodnabad Gram Panchayat, Shri. Mohan Nair, Up-Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, SHG members, Members of PACS (Primary Agriculture Credit Societies), various affiliated Societies, customers, media persons and a large gathering of people.
At the outset, Shri. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, A & N State Coop. Bank welcomed the delegates wholeheartedly and further informed that the bank is rendering its banking services to the remotest part of the Islands. The Chairman further urged all the members present on the occasion to popularise the schemes of the bank and also the schemes rendered by Govt. Of India. He also urged the people to join hands with the bank.
Shri. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director, A & N State Cooperative Bank appreciated and informed that the Bank has set up its branch at Burmanallah area under the aegis of 12 new licenses which were granted by the Reserve Bank of India in the year 2014. The bank branch at Burmanallah was inaugurated on 9th Feb, 2015. He further informed that the Branch at Burmanallah has mobilised a deposit of Rs. 4.00 Crores and a lending of Rs. 60.00 lacs and is presently offering its ATM services along with RTGS/NEFT facilities for the customers. He also informed the gatherings regarding the benefits of the Cooperative Cards meant for door delivery of pensions. He briefly explained the Operational procedures of the cards and informed that Cooperative Card is the flagship programme of the bank in which the bank is disbursing pensions for old age, widow and disabled persons at their doorsteps.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman, NABARD distributed Cooperative Cards for a total of 07 beneficiaries under Old age, Widow and Disability Pension category. He also distributed loan sanction orders for Umbrella Programme on Natural Resource Management (UPNURM) of NABARD to over 07 beneficiaries. The UPNURM project is implemented for the first time in India by A & N State Cooperative Bank Ltd.
Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman, NABARD in his keynote address informed that A & N State Coop. Bank‘s initiative of door delivery of Pension is remarkable and it is the only bank in the Country to offer pension at the doorsteps of the people. He also appreciated the efforts of Management, Board of Director and Staff members of the bank in providing such a unique system of pension disbursement. He also highlighted that Customer relationship plays a vital role even in the digital era of banking services. He urged the banks to have good customer relationship for a healthy banking. He also opined that Govt. of India’s move for Demonetization has resulted in more dependency on cashless banking. He further added that the bank should disseminate awareness on financial literacy.
