Port Blair, Jan 03: Since the decision of GoI to demonetization/digitalization and subsequently implementation of cashless transactions both in public and private, the A & N Administration has taken concerted efforts involving the Lead Bank, other banks, public, police, traders, students, teachers etc. for wider dissemination of information and awareness about cashless transactions.
Besides, the District Administration was able to reach out all cross sections of societies to enable cashless transitions via Internet Banking, mobile banking, e-wallet and various other modes of cashless transactions. District Administration has been continuously reaching out to the public for encouraging more cashless transactions. Also a meeting with traders & merchants has been held to sort out issues & problems implementing cashless economy.
Subsequently, good response was received from the traders associations in implementing digital transactions and many of them have approached the authorities for POS machine and initiated various action for adopting digital mode of transactions. Further, a control room has been setup at District office with phone nos. 03192-238881 & Mobile No. 9434280018 for general public to convey any issues/ problems in processing digital transactions.
