Port Blair, Dec 16: In order to promote cashless transactions, today on 15.12.2016 at about 1330 hrs, an awareness programme for the general merchant, shop keeper and general public of Gurudwara Market area was conducted in front of the market.
About 45-50 persons attended the programme. During the program, SDPO South Andaman Shri Nishant Gupta, along with Shri Abinav Pal, Manager, Andaman & Nicobar Co-Operative Bank, imparted knowledge to the gathering about cashless transactions and its benefits. SHO PS Aberdeen Insp. Mahesh Kumar and other staff of PS Aberdeen were also present in the programme.
Shopkeepers were urged to install POS Machines in their shops to minimize cash transactions. The shopkeepers as well as the general public was briefed regarding use of Net Banking and they were explained in detail the benefits of different methods of cashless transactions.
It was also requested disseminate information about the use of mobile banking, App based Banking such as SBI Buddy, use of POS Machine, E-Wallet etc. among their friends and family members. It was also emphasized that security aspect of digital payments be ensured and the public was urged not to share their ATM PIN and CVV number with any unknown person.
