Port Blair, Dec 16: Bay of Bengal seems to be super active this December. Just after the departure of Cyclone Vardah, another weather system has started brewing in Bay of Bengal.
It is presently seen as a low pressure area marked over southern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
According to Skymet Weather, the system is moving in warm sea surface temperatures, which is favourable for its further intensification during the next 24 hours. Moreover, it is travelling at a very slow pace, thus likely to get more time for strengthening.
As per weathermen, it may intensify into a low pressure area but we need to wait and watch. At present, the system will bring moderate to heavy rains and thundershowers over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Besides this, it is likely to follow the same route as the earlier four weather systems developed in Bay of Bengal. Out of these four, three systems had concentrated into cyclonic storms of varying intensity (Cyclone Kyant, Cyclone Nada and Cyclone Vardah), while one intensified into depression.
Thus, initially it is most likely to shift west-northwestwards and thereafter in west direction towards Tamil Nadu coast near Chennai. (source: http://www.skymetweather.com)
