Port Blair, Dec 01: Keeping its commitment of stringent action against the sale, storage and transportation of contra banned tobacco products in the territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, on 30/11/2016 a team of PS Central Crime Station, Port Blair comprising of HC/Nakul Halder, HC/Bhupender Singh, HC/Lokeshwar Rao and HG/Sudhir Halder headed by Inspr.
Hari Narayan, SHO PS CCS in association with Food safety officials of DHS conducted search in a Pan Shop of Shri.Ajit Biswas S/o.Late.Sirish Biswas situated at Shadipur Junction and recovered 120 tins (each tin containing 50 grms chewing tobacco), 5 Nos. prepared Zarda Kagaz Pan and 2 small packets of Khaini. The aforesaid tobacco products are seized on the spot by the officials of Food safety under relevant sections of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 for initiating further course of legal action.
The general public is appealed to inform any credible information pertaining to sale or possession of contra banned tobacco products or any other illegal activity on the following telephone numbers- 100, 232586 & 233307. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
