Port Blair, Nov 21: Following complaints of illegal sale of banned tobacco products etc, a surprise inspection of concerned wholesalers/retailers was carried out in Port Blair area.
During the inspection, it was found that numbers of shops were plying without relevant permissions such as setback Rules and diversion like those pertaining to A&N Islands LRR & LRR 1966.
In response four stores, namely Ali Stores, Aberdeen, Kumaran Store, Aberdeen, Chitra Stores, Junglighat and Royal fancy, Junglighat shops were given immediate direction/order to stop all commercial operations and show cause in the court of the Sub Divisional Officer, South Andaman until further orders.
All are warned to refrain from indulging in such illegal activities and to not indulge in sale/purchase of banned tobacco products, else strongest action as per relevant acts will be taken against them.
Public is advised to remain vigil and pass credible information to District Control room at 1070.
