Port Blair, Nov 15: The Aberdeen Police putting extra ordinary efforts to curb the menace of drugs in these islands has again seized more than 1.2 kg of Ganja from the house of a history Sheeter, Drug Peddler namely Sheikh Murtaza, a resident of South Point.
A number of cases have been registered against the History Sheeter, Drug Peddler Sheikh Murtaza in various Police Stations of the islands in past. He made headlines when he attacked a Police Personnel in 2013 after which the police jawan was forced to fire a round.
On a tip off, a team of Aberdeen Police Station under the overall supervision of DySP Ajay Kumar Rai and SHO Aberdeen Police Station, Inspector Mahesh Kumar Yadav, HC Vijay Shankar, Hentho, Radhakrishnan, PC Ashok, Biswajit Baroi, Rashid, Jagdish Babu and other staffs of Aberdeen Police reached the house of the History Sheeter, Drug Peddler Sheikh Murtaza and after a thorough checking of his house seized more than 1.2 kg of Ganja.
Following this Sheikh Murtaza and Yogesh Lall, a resident of Rajiv Nagar Port Blair, has been arrested from the spot. Both the accused have been sent to the judicial custody, it is learnt.
