Port Blair, Nov 15: A family of retired policeman has alleged that they are being targeted by cops of PS Aberdeen, even when they have no fault. According to a complaint letter sent by the victim to a senior officer of Police Department, on 12 November morning, a Sub Inspector of PS Aberdeen dashed her car from behind.
While the said Sub Inspector Mr. P K Pandey is alleging that the accident happened when the lady driver was coming reverse, the lady driver, a doctor, alleges that the car was not moving at all.
Sadly instead of listening to both sides, an FIR was lodged against the lady doctor, Dr. Supriya Arangi, by one Traffic Police jawan, who was said to be coming from behind, on behalf of S.I PK Pandey. Surprisingly, it was the family of the lady doctor, who had come to PS Aberdeen to lodge a complaint before the other party.
The father of the lady doctor, Head Constable alleged that the traffic jawan who has lodge the FIR reached the spot after nearly 5-10 minutes of the accident and hence there is no point accepting his complaint as FIR.
“As this is the case of a Police Sub Inspector of PS Aberdeen, entire police team is supporting the SI and targeting my family,” said Mr. Suresh Arangi, a retire Head Constable and father of the lady doctor.
The family has now decided to take up this matter of “Gross misuse of power by police against general public” to the Lt. Governor and if needed to the Prime Minister’s office.
“We have been asked to accept our fault and come for compromise. Why should we accept fault, when there is no fault from our side,” he added.
Hope the Superintendent of Police will intervene into this matter and re-examine the facts before it is too late.
