Port Blair, June 04: On 04.06.2012 at 1120 hrs, a team consisting of SI Mahesh, SHO, PS Rangat, SI D. K. Seal, PC Khokan Dutta, PC Samsul Hussain, PC Desamma, HG R. P. Yadav conducted raid in a Godown of Mr. Shridhar Nandi S/o Late S/o Late S. Nandi (48 yrs), R/o 24 Paragana, New Barrackpur, PS – Khorda, West Bengal presently residing at Rangat Bazar near vegetable market and recovered 07 plastic bags containing a net total of 105 kgs black colour Polythene bags. The said recovered polythene bags were seized under section 19 of Environment (Protection) Act 1986 for further action.
On enquiry it is gathered that the seized bulk quantity of polythene bags were brought to Rangat in the intervening night of 03-04 June 2012 from MayaBunder through MV Abar Ship which sailed from Kolkata.
“ Further general public is requested to pass on any credible information regarding use of banned polythene bags to the police over phone number 274239, 100, 273206 informer will be suitably rewarded. A communication recovered from SP (D) N&M Andaman,” a release from A & N Police Department said here today.
