Port Blair, Nov 10: The Science wing of Department of Education, A&N Administration has organized a “State Level Science Quiz Competition-2016” for the Sr. Secondary Schools of these Islands on today in the Conference Hall of Shiksha Sadan, Port Blair at 10.00 am.
Shri INGIT PRATAP SINGH, Director Sports, A&N Administration was the chief guest on this occasion while Smt. MALATI SINGH, Principal of the Govt. Boys Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair was the guest of honour.
Altogether four schools, three schools from South Andaman zone and one school from Mayabunder zone has participated in this competition.
Earlier Shri Mammen Thomas, Dy. Director Education (Science) has welcomed the chief guest and the gathering and briefed about this competition. The chief guest Shri INGIT PRATAP SINGH, Director Sports in his inaugural address has highlighted the importance of Quiz Competitions in teaching learning process. He urged the participants to take full opportunity of the moment to perform well in the contest. He also appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing such academic events to boost the knowledge of the students of these Islands.
The Govt. Model SSS, Aberdeen, Port Blair has bagged the 1st prize while Carmel SSS, Port Blair stood 2nd in this contest. The chief guest has given away prizes & trophy to the winner and Runner up team.
A similar competition for the Secondary School Level students was also organized yesterday on 9th November-2016 at the same venue where Dr. JAIDEV SINGH, Principal TGCE, Port Blair was the Chief Guest. He has appreciated the student’s for participating in such co-curricular activities.
Altogether 20 Secondary Schools participated in the Science Quiz Competition in which the Navy Children School, Minnie Bay bagged the 1st Position and the Carmel SSS, Port Blair clinched the 2nd position.
Smt. Mariam Joy, Science Consultant has conducted the Quiz program while Shri Raja Ram, Science Supervisor proposed the vote of thanks.
