Port Blair, Nov 10: A major tragedy was averted this morning at around 09:30am when a fire broke out at a furniture shop, situated at Minnie Bay.
The fire reportedly broke out because of short circuit in the electric meter.
As per reports, acting swiftly, after getting fire call, just within a minute, a team of Fire Brigade reached the spot and controlled the fire. It has been learnt that the shop owners themselves had doused the fire to some extend before Fire team could reach.
Sources said that the accident could have proved deadly, as a saw mill has been constructed, at the basement, where the fire broke out.
